my husband and i are on a quest to find, renovate, and decorate our first home, so I am constantly musing over various interior design mags, trying to find “me” in all of them. i know what i want in my head, but to actually see it played out in furniture and paint colors, its hard! i love to decorate and i really love what i love, but to actually furnish and decorate a whole home… that’s a challenge! and to think, i’ll be stuck with this stuff for a while (since money will be super tight with the brand spankin’ new mortgage!) so I want to make sure i love what i claim to love!

one of my recent finds… home decorators collection

it is super cute, tasteful, chic furniture, ikea style (assemble yourself)… but not often weird ikea swedish taste! (dont get me wrong, i have a special place in my heart for ikea, but sometimes, i dont get the “cuteness” of it, and i suppose thats the point…) anyways, i digress… Home Decorator Collection has various collections on their website (or subscribe to their fun catalog for free)… their French collection is my personal fav.

I really appreciate, cute, shabby chic, adorable furniture, for a reasonable cost… here are some of my favs…

finally a stylish filing cabinet!:

shabby chicness:

enjoy!

alright, i have learned that when in doubt… target probably has it.

target… i remember target being the junky store that my mom toted us to… stowing us in the bright red shopping cart, giving us stale popcorn to be quiet.

lame store no more! target, if you haven’t noticed, is outdoing themselves, left and right… from the GO international designers to the regulars of Issac Mizrahi and Rachel Ashwell, target is full of fab finds (and if you can get out of the ‘dollar spot’ without spending twenty bucks, let me know!)…

but recently, while doing my traditional random google searching, i found target sells wallpaper, cute wallpaper…

now, wallpaper has officially made a royal comeback and is now cool again. but your your mom’s old blue floral/bow number, or the fruit on the wall stunner, won’t cut it these days (wondering if those ever were really “in”, but i digress)… no, look in any mod design mag and you are bound to see some fab new wallpaper prints, and of course, target has caught on!

here is super fun damask print (not so traditional … black and white… but a mix of shades of violet… so chic!):

a fab metallic damask:

if we could wallpaper our place, this would be everywhere:

so, the next time you are wondering where to find something, think of the big red bullseye! :)

a friend of mine led me to a fabulous blog dedicated to all things vintage!

birdie

Rose’s Petite Maison. (http://rosespetitemaison.blogspot.com)

In French (thanks to my French hubby) means Rose’s Little House. Of course there is NOTHING small about this house as she is a FABULOUS artist! Rosemary is her name and her home exudes beautiful attention to detail. She keeps a blog of her vintage finds, her own interior decorating, fabulous tips, and SOOO much inspiration. I love her holiday decor as she transforms her home every holiday into theme.

Take a minute to look through all her previous posts and you’ll be itching to spend hours at a flea market! Enjoy!
